We did our best. But best doesnt always mean you will succeed. A 0-0 draw brought us to the penalty shoot out which we unfortunately lost. Luck just wasnt on our side. Quarter finals was where the journey ends. The end of a chapter.

Other than that dissapointing loss, i have other things on my mind. The one thing that has been floating in my mind all this time is, do i look chinese? I have been spoken to in the chinese language so many times from unsuspecting strangers such as aunties, uncles, china man and many others. This thought was triggerred again today on the journey home when i wanted to get a bread-ice cream from those "bike-ice cream uncle" near the road. I approached him and i told him i wanted strawberry ice cream with bread. He started babbling chinese to me. Even though i can speak some chinese and i can understand 80% of a conversation in that language, his chinese stumped me. Maybe its because of his accent. Maybe because i thought he was talking french. Not knowing what he means,i just said yes and i got chocolate ice cream instead.haha.Just my luck today.

Been busy doing my final year project these days. But ive started to realise other assignments have been left untouched. Maybe i should start on some of them soon...

Here's something very interesting that i read from Latiff's blog, it is a direct take from his site and i think it is very interesting :

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, the Almighty.

He asks one of his new Muslim students to stand and.....

Professor: You are a Muslim, aren't you, son?

Student : Yes, sir.

Prof: So you believe in God?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Prof: Is God good?

Student : Sure.

Prof: Is God all-powerful?

Student : Yes.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him.
Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't.
How is this God good then? Hmm?

(Student is silent.)

Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?

Student :Yes.

Prof: Is Satan good?

Student : No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?

Student : From...God...

Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student : Yes.

Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything. Correct?

Student : Yes.

Prof: So who created evil?

(Student does not answer.)

Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness?
All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?

Student :Yes, sir.

Prof: So, who created them?

(Student has no answer.)

Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the
world around you. Tell me, son...Have you ever seen God?

Student: No, sir.

Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?

Student : No , sir.

Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God?
Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student : Yes.

Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says
your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Prof: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Prof: Yes.

Student : No sir. There isn't.

(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat,
white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold.
We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go
any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we
use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold.
Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something.
You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light....But if you
have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it?
In reality, darkness isn't. If it were you would be able to make darkness
darker, wouldn't you?

Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality.
You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God.
You are viewing the concept of God as something finite,
something we can measure.
Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism,
but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as
the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a
substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it.
Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a
monkey?

Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the
argument is going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and
cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not
teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class is in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?

(The class breaks out into laughter.)

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it,
touched or smelt it?.....No one appears to have done so.
So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable
protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir.
With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face
unfathomable.)

Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.

Student : That is it sir.. The link between man & god is FAITH.
That is all that keeps things moving & alive.

The quarter finals was yesterday. It was 6 pm. Just after the team on the field was our turn. Something bad happened. It started raining heavily. Then thunder stroke. All the players on the field suddenly squat down with their hands on their head. Everyone watching it burst into laughter. That has to be the most funniest moment in SP history. Game postponed. Time for rest. Monday it will be.

What a week this week have been even though we are only half way through the week. Soccer today and yesterday plus a gym session today is a very tiring thing to do.

As this is my final semester,im having my "farewell" soccer tournament. The last tournament in SP that im gonna participate. Ive played in lots of tournament in SP and the closest i was to winning was finishing a mere 2nd in the School Of ICT 7-aside soccer in 2002. This last tournament im playing in is called the MLS 7-aside soccer.Ive participated in it for 3 years in a row and this will be my final appearance in it. Im sounding like im retiring from soccer. haha.

I was called upon by Sanusi to play as a Defender in his team. Ive played mostly as a defender in SP but most of the time i play as a midfielder or a striker in my other team. But luckily im used to being a defender, so it helps. The rest of the team was unknown to me as ive never met most of them. We introduced ourselves and i settled in quickly.

We won our first match yesterday with a scoreline of 4-1.Our match today also ended with the same score 4-1. I think we are the highest scoring team in the tournament with 8 goals in 2 games. Tommorow final group game is the deciding factor whether we go through the knockout stage or we go home with feelings of dissapointment. The team we are going to meet up tommorow has 4 points, while we have 6 points from 2 games. If we draw or win, we'll get through. If we lose, then thats the end of our path.

We'll see what happens tommorow. I hope we stand on the pitch victoriously with our hands held up high with joy on our faces.

When your feeling low, Oh to who else do you go
See I'd cry if you hurt, I'd give you my last shirt
Because I love you so

Now if my sky should fall, Would you even call
I've opened up my heart, I never want to part
I'm giving you the ball

When I look in your eyes, I can feel the butterflies
I'll love you when your blue, But tell me darling true
What am I to you

National Service.2 words that send shivers to most guys whenever it is mentioned.Well yesterday, one of my "block merah" friend,Aidil, was having his last day of freedom before joining the NS.The whole gang decided to have a barbecue for him at "block putih".

Let me explain more about "block merah".Its kinda like a group of friends who stays at the "red" block around Jurong Point area.It started out with Rafe,Shahi,Ahmad and me.They were together before i got to know them and once we get to know each other,we frequently play soccer at the ampitheatre. We formed a circle of friends. After some time, more and more people from all over joined in.I brought some people in and by the time i left the place for my new home at CCK,there must be like 30 plus people. It's a place where people can just come down at any time of the day and most of the time, you will find people there to chat or hang around with.Something you would call a 24-hour hang-out place.

Right after school,i went to meet up with Amir before going to the barbecue pit.Saw Bruno along the way and went along with him.Reached there around 6 and most of the gang was there.Had tons of fun as we joked around with Aidil about his last hours before his NS days. They bbq chicken, crabmeat and hotdogs. But i only ate the fried rice as i was already full.Everyone was having fun; people were playing soccer, others were sitting down having chats, enjoying the food and the bulk were having their own bicycle "race",with 3 bikes challenging each other for 3 laps.3 hours passed without anyone noticing and a suprise birthday cake showed up with Shahi and Rafe when they dissapeared for a while. We sang and sang for him and everyone was in a jovial mood. After some time, the guys went off for soccer at the basketball court but due to me wearing long jeans and bad shoes,i decided against joining them.Said my goodbyes to them and took the bus home.

Talking about Bruno, one of my block merah friends,i found out that he moved out of his home to stay on his own.The only problem with that is he is still in Secondary 5.Was kinda shocked actually. He rented a place and decided to stay alone, due to some problems with his family. He's working part time and studying at the same time.At his age,i kinda respect that.

End of my long and wonderful day.

This has been the longest time ive never updated my blog. A week had already passed without me knowing it.

I had taken my two test, AAUP and ACAN on monday and wednesday respectively. Just the day before my audio test, i took a look at my lecture slides for the first time. It makes no sense whatsoever. But luckily, the results came out a few days back and i got a D. Well at least i passed.

Hmmm, what happened the past 10 days ago? Had my usual gathering with my friends, went out with my buddy, Amir, celebrated my mom's birthday, went out numerous times and slacked a lot.

I have to say something bout my mom. She's a wonderful person who i cant live without. She's the most caring, lovely, nice and sweetest mom in the world. Thanking her is not enough for all the things shes done for me. Happy birthday mom!

Yesterday,i went out with a bunch of friends to play LAN for a while. The usual suspects was around for the routine "job" with an addition of Chee Wee's friend, Bryan. After that, we went for a movie called "Runaway Jury". Met up with CW cousin and friends at Shaw Towers. We got 4 free tickets as Chee Wee's cousin was working there. The movie was nice, the plot was quite confusing at first but once it ends, you'll understand the whole story.

I keep thinking bout this gal nowadays. She's the 2nd "SEVEN", haha. Only my close friends know what that means. Saw her again yesterday during ELIT lecure. My heart stop beating everytime i turn around from my seat and look at her. She looks like an angel to me! Well, found out her name and the second step would be to get her number!Wish me luck!

Been a while since i last updated.Got a new computer last saturday and was busy configuring the new one.Moving files from one com to another was a pain in the ass due to unforseen problems such as network problem. The only way it can be done now is to burn up the data slowly one by one. This is gonna take up a whole damn day.

The interim presentation was over today..Had it in the early morning but due to some problem,we weren't able to show our finalised model and had to do with our ugly, demo model. As you know,my group is doing a 3D fighting game.We were in a state of rush as most of the guys only saw their slides when they presented it to the panel of judges!I think we did fairly well overall. But i have a big complain about our client,MC Cheong. He is a fucked up,perverted, kani nabei, chao chee bye, asshole, lanciao person to deal with.During our presentation,he told us that all he wanted was our source code and not to spend too much time on the models and background. If thats the case, what are we gonna present to the judges!?An hour of presentation on source codes?Isnt that an abmysal remark?Does he has a brain? We might as well just do all the source codes and not work on the models, main menu and background. If i were to meet him on the streets one of these days,im gonna whack him with anything i can find.I feel that this final year project is just a waste of our time.In the end,the client is gonna benefit from it as he get students to work on his project for free. All the source codes and such belongs to Singapore Poly once we finished it.All we get in return are fully-stressed days and sleepless nights. This is absurd.

Other than school issues,i was absolutely fuming a few days back.It was regarding my dad's bonus. He has worked 10 years for his company. With news that there was profits made this year,he was expecting the very least one months bonus. But what he got was less than half a month's pay!The rest of the workers got 2 months to 1 months pay. This is due to the new boss at his company. He shows favouritism to his own colour. He likes people to suck up to him. He's a racist bastard. He wasnt happy with my dad for no reason and this kind of shit happened.I was really angry.I cant get it out of my mind for a few days.If i've only seen his face,i would have broken it into million of pieces. Now,those people who speak racistly better be careful around me.My perspective of "fun" racist remarks are long gone.Better not get on my "wanted" list...
