I had a really slow and boring time last week. All we learnt was first aid while the other rota was away on the 7 day junior commander course (OBS) at pulau ubin. CPR, first aid equipments and other forgettable procedures was taught to us in a straightforward and boring manner.

This week, we started on our real training again. Outings to Mandai Training Village and Jurong East Fire Station enlightened us due to the confined environment in Civil Defence Academy. We were taught on ladders, rollgliss and many other complicated procedures which would take pages to describe.

Heres a link to the pictures i uploaded taken from Rizal's camera

Im feeling lazier and lazier to update my blog these days. Is there a reason for me to keep this blog up and running anymore?

Watching the tv show called Inferno, i looked at the bravery of the firefighters and the hardships they had to go through. To see them fighting fire with all their hearts, some injured, some lost, it just struck me how important my job will be in the future. You see them feeling down when they couldnt save a live and i just feel for them. They dont think for themselves, they think of others. Working as a team is more important than being a lone hero. I keep wondering how i would feel if i was in that situation and it made me motivated to keep working harder.

So far, the training has been tough but interesting. We get to learn equipments in fire fighting such as doing hose drills, trifor wrench, air bag and many more. Just this week, i had my foot drill assesment, methods of instruction presentation and my ippt. I managed to get an 81 for my foot drill whereas a 70 for my presentation. As for my ippt, i was going for a silver and everything was going great till the PTI cock up at my pull up station. Getting frustrated with him, i decided not to finish it. But i was utterly suprised when i got the timing of my 2.4km run that day. Managed to cut my time down from 11min 29 sec to 10 min 41 sec. Maybe its due to the running we had through the cemeteries. We had one session yesterday while wearing our boots and long pants and jackets through the christian cemetry( we had been to the muslim few times already) and it started raining halfway. We managedto complete the whole run in 45 mins for a 4.2km run. Our spirits were high after that and we had to wait till our confinement time was up before we could go home at 10 that day.

Other than that, im enjoying my stay there. We are used to confinements and punishments now, therefore we feel nothing when that happens. I know its been a while since i last updated but i promised myself to keep this blog updated once a week. And ill try to keep this promise next week...
