I wrote on my previous post about St John Island and how ive experienced fond memories while i was there. Here ill have some short stories for your own reading pleasure.

THE SNAKE
I think i was still in primary school and had stayed over at my grandma house during the school holidays. While i was sleeping so comfortably on the living room chair, my grandma woke me up in the middle of the night. I had no idea what she wanted. She then brought me to the walking path right in front of my neighbours house. And to my horror, there was this enormously long snake with a bulge in its tummy. Holy shit, it was that long, maybe around 4 metres. Imagine if i had walked around in the middle of the night and encountered such big reptile. Wow, scary. I was told that the snake had swallowed whole a live cat. And i think the shape in its stomach gave that away. Well, the next day, i saw the snake in the sea. Dead. Apparently someone couldnt sleep with the snake still alive in front of their house. I didnt went swimming that day...

THE CRAZY MONKEY
There used to be a monkey which my neighbour kept, tied to their front porch. I heard that it escaped captivity from another island and swam to St John Island. No idea whether this information was true. I was till in primary school then and everytime i walked past my neighbours house, which was just beside my grandma's, the monkey would start staring at me and try to chase me. Luckily the rope was short and it couldnt reach me at all. One day, i was walking past my neighbour house to go to the beach. I heard footstep noises behind me and so i turned around to look who it was. To my horror, it was the monkey! It somehow managed to untangle the rope and try to chase me! I was so shocked that i started sprinting as fast as i could in no direction. While i was sprinting away, the monkey also did the same and now it was like a game of cat and mouse, but i think i prefer the term monkey and human.haha. After a certain distance, i looked over my shoulder and saw that it had given up chase as i was too far ahead. I was so relieved. I shall never trust monkeys again...

THE WANDERING GRANNY
This happened just a few months back during the school holidays. I was staying over with a bunch of friends, Amir and Ummar, there. As it was the holidays, many students from Singapore usually have their camp there. To my horror, it was students from Singapore Polytechnic.haha. Luckily they were mostly year ones and i only knew the group leader. That very night, my grandma told me of an incident that the SP students encountered. One of them was possesed during one of the night walk. It was said that while they were walking, the gal suddenly saw a white figure up in the trees. It suddenly just flew down to her and in an instant, she was talking with the voice of an old granny. The rest were stumped and shocked, not knowing what to do. The possessed gal said things such as they were disturbing the peace and therefore disturbing her. Just as soon as it started, the gal suddenly collapsed and fainted.

So the students decided to give offerings to the ghost, and they placed chicken rice all over the area that they walked that night. And unfortunately for me, my grandma house was jammed packed with people as my uncle and aunties came from the night boat. Shit, me and my friends had to sleep in the cabin up on top of the hill. One of my uncle was to accompany us that night as we needed an adult to supervise us. We went up to the cabin and along the way, saw the chicken rice offerings. There were 3 plates there, and it was lit up with candles. The path to the cabin was dark, as the fuse had blow on some of the lamps. It created an eerie feeling. We got into the cabin but then we realised we wanted to get some more stuff in my grandma house. So we had to walk all the way down. The journey down was ok, but the journey back up was scary.

The 3 of us brought some drinks and pillows along with us on the way up. We walked slowly, feeling scared due to the place being so awfully quiet. Then all of a sudden, we heard a very loud noise! We all ran like mad to the cabin as we were feeling so shocked of the sudden noise. We were panting like mad when we reached the cabin, and we found out that one of my friends had thrown a can into the drain and that made the noise. Silly us.haha. That night, i wanted to try to go to sleep, but there was this noise coming from the bottom of the bed. You see,i was sleeping on the floor with the rest of my friends. It sounded like something was just beside me, breathing heavily. I was scared. I was trying my best to ignore it. All through the night, i keep hearing it and after some time, i was so tired i fell asleep. The next day i asked my friends if they heard anything but they heard nothing. On our way back to my grandma house, we were stumped by something. The offerings that the students left was still in place, but only the middle portion of the chicken rice was gone. The other two beside it remained untouched. How weird is that. I hope i never sleep in the cabin again...

I think ill continue with more stories tommorow, feeling kinda tired now. Other than that, i had great news from a fellow worker in my ITP workplace. I had designed a card for her birthday while i was still on attachment as the rest wanted a specially designed card, not those kind on the shelves. She loved it soooo much. And now, she's gonna get married around January next year and she wants me to design her wedding invitation card! How cool is that? Never have i imagined me doing such an important thing for a friend. That just summed up my day today...

Im dead tired. 2 days in a row i helped out at my cousins wedding. The girls were hot, the food was nice, the atmosphere was great and the wedding went smoothly. Now all i can think about is St John island.

Can't wait to ge back to my "homeland". Cant wait to go back to my grandma kampuog house, swim in those beautiful beaches and enjoy the lush greenery you can never find in Singapore. But the ferry ride nowadays can only be taken from Sentosa. What a hassle. It used to be from World Trade Centre. But there is another route there, to take the small boat from Clifford Pier. Unfortunately, there's too many people in my family so that option is ruled out. I have so many fond memories of that island. My grandma lived there, and so does my mom and her sisters last time. The place just gives me so much emotions that i cant stop but wonder what will become of it in the next few years when they link it to other islands. But for now, i just wanna enjoy the endless days on it.

I would often do so much stuff there that you cant do anywhere else. I can go fishing or i can go swimming. I can spray water on the chickens or i can just play around with the cats. I can walk into the forest and find mangoes or i can go sit by the beach. The activity is endless. I have so much stories about the island that i grew on.

Well, here are some of it. There was the large 4 metre snake who swallowed whole a cat in the early hours, the monkey who chased me everytime i walked past, the goat who hated me, the close encounter with the third kind, another snake encounter, the unearthing of a skull, the boat ride which i saw skeletons being dragged by another boat, the beheadings of people and soooooo much more. Sounds interesting? You bet! I still have so much more experiences i would love to share. I think ill start tommorow. Enjoy the weekends people...

This is how i'll look like in the next few months i think

Got posted to Civil Defense at Jalan Bahar for my National Service. Quite fine with it, due to the following reasons:

1) Its near my house, just a bus ride away (though my old house was just a ten minute walk away from the camp)

2) Its near a couple of my friends house, Nasir, Ummar, Amir, Joseph and the Block Merah gang

3) I dont need to travel to Changi and take a boat to Tekong

4) Found out that Sidik got into the same camp and also same reporting date with me.

5) I have a friend in there, so maybe he'll show me around.

I think Civil Defense isnt such a bad place to be. I just wanna go to a place where i can train my body up to the max. Thats my ultimate goal. Maybe in there, ill become a firefighter or something. Just hope i dont become a Medic. That's lame. haha. They wrote in the letter they sent that we can bring along radio and such. Wonder if i can bring my PS2 along. haha.

Oh yeah, i caught Shrek 2 again with my bro. He likes it a lot. And i watched it again on vcd. Im Shrekimalistically mad.

Thats basically it. Im reporting in on September 14. Can't wait.

Time past by so fast. One minute you are a kid, the other minute,a grown up human being. I just turned 20. 20 freakin years on this earth. 20 long years of misery. 20 fucking years of life wasted on things such as love and hate. I have long felt the feeling of rejection all my life. I have often wondered the purpose of me walking on this earth. Am i placed here to feel hate and suffer with so many before me? I hate being 20. Why cant things get simpler but instead, it becomes more complicated. I have long hated this life. ARghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Shrek 2

Who can resist those eyes?

Happy birthday to Azlin (Nanyang Poly),turning 20 huh? 6 years went by so fast like it was just yesterday. You are number one or first at everything to me. My first love, my first girlfriend, and also one day older than me. haha. Well, glad that we have still stayed as good friends even after so much things have happened. Enjoy your birthday with your loved ones and cherish them always.

The past few days was kinda hectic, went swimming with Jeff and Chee Wee. Then 2 of my best friends, Amir and Ummar, slept over at my house as there was the FA Cup Final, went to town area with Ummar to slack around and catch up with him as we have not met for quite a while and lastly, caught Shrek 2.

Oh man, Shrek 2 was one of the best movies i ever watched. I laughed my ass off till my voice went so high up like a gal.(exaggerating). haha. The audience were laughing so loudly i cant stop but follow suit. The puss in the boots was sooooo funny man. Oh yeah, and you'll find out that Pinocchio wears a red thong! haha. And so much more hilarious stuff! Right after the show, i felt like buying another ticket to watch it again! How often does that happen to me? Never! I recommend the show to anyone who wants to laugh their hearts out. Bring some tissues cos you will need it to wipe the tear of laughter away from your eyes...

May 18, 2004
When i first started out my blog, i had stated that i would share every single thoughts and moments i have in my life. I also said that i was in the process of writing a song and after month's of delays and shortcomings, i decided to try finish it up today with the spare time on my hands. And here it is, the end product. I had heard of this unique rhythmic guitar strumming from my friend and from there on, it was created. It is a song with only vocals accompanied by acoustic guitar. This piece is of great sentimental value to me, i started working on it while i was in love with a girl who broke my heart over and over again while i was still young and naive, about 4 years ago. I just couldn't get her off my head, and my confidence was at an all time low. This experience left a scar on my heart, and it forever held me back from showing and sharing my true feelings to any girl...

Here goes...

Gone By Seven

Why you,you go away,
When the sun just rise,
And our love just shine.

And you,you are the light,
That can keep me alive,
That can shine through the night.

Cos when you,you went away,
Why did you say you'll come back here one day?

Love got a hold on me,
When we were together you promised forever,
You left me on my own,
Just when we were starting,
Love's not forgiving me.

Why you,you run away,
When you said that you'll stay,
Every night every day.

And you,you lied to me,
Straight to my face,
Memories i cant erase...

Cos when you,you went away,
Why did you say you'll come back here one day?

Love got a hold on me,
When we were together you promised forever,
You left me on my own,
Just when we were starting,
Love's not forgiving me.

Please stay till the end of the day,
Give me a second to explain,
Thats its not the same, without you here...

Well, thats particularly it. Been so long since i wanted this piece out. What could have been and what would have been. Still brings back the old memories of yesteryear...

Flying through the clouds and touching the stars, i was shot and brought down back to earth in an instance. How quickly it happened. Everything about it was magical, but all it felt now was just a faint of imagination at the back of my head. Ears keep hearing songs non stop 24/7 without any breaks. Eyes keep seeing that particular moment of event. Can't stop it from playing back over again and over again. Please make it stop...

Hey,sorry but here is a modified version.I got Cheryl's sister name wrongly. I put it down as Baphne when it should have been Daphne. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. (Sounds like the errors in the New Paper)

I had the most memorable day i've ever had in quite a while. The annual dinner and dance for School Of ICT was held yesterday at the Traders Hotel.

The day started with me supposed to meet up with Jeslyn and Dawn by cab at 6pm. In usual girl fashion style, they managed to get ready only by 6.40 pm. During those 40 minutes of waiting, i took off my clothes as i had already gotten ready and also to prevent me from sweating in those long sleeves shirt. I decided to rediscover my Playstation 2 which i had not touched for some time in those 40 minutes. Got a call from Jeslyn and i quickly got ready in a flash. Went to the shop to get some Films for my old-age defunct camera and managed to flag down a taxi in 5 minutes.

I instructed the taxi driver to pick the girls up first at Bukit Batok. The girls didn't dissapoint me with their fashion sense and they managed to make me forget that they were late. Jeslyn was in a stunning black dress while Dawn was in a low cut black dress. I think they could have won a supermodel contest in those dress.haha. Then we went to pick up Kent at Teban Gardens. He was looking as black as the clouds as he was pissed with the girls. But after a while, the mood changed to a joyous one.

We arrived outside the hotel at around 7 20 and were just in time for the start of the event. Most of the guys and girls were dressed to kill. Hafiz wore a blazer with a tie, Lester had the same thing on but with a different coloured tie and some of the girls wore such wonderful dresses. We were all seated to a table comprimising of Jeffery, Jin Jian, Kent, Chee Wee, Jeslyn, Dawn, Meng Kiat and Cheryl's sister, Daphne. The MC of the night was a very entertaining and funny guy. He made us laugh all night long and kept us in an upbeat mood. We were made to participte in games and lucky draws. The weird thing about the Lucky Draw was that almost all of the people sitting on my table won something compared to the rest. Dawn won a hamper worth $800, Jeslyn got a Gym equipment, I won a $50 voucher for The Wallet Shop, Meng Kiat won a $50 HMV voucher and the most luckiest of all,Daphne who won an Olympus Digital Camera! Just plain amazing! We had quite a lot of dishes for the night. There were Sweet and Sour Fish, Chilli Crabs, Soup and some other dishes. The food was quite filling and tasted quite fine. After most of the games were played, we had the Mr & Ms ICT Competition. The winner for MR ICT doesn't look that good at all, wonder how blind the judges are. But the winner of the Ms ICT was my primary school friend, Melanie. She's not bad, but i think the other girl was better.

Once everything was wrapped up, my group stayed back while most of the rest had went home for an early night. They brought some Vodka for everyone to drink and enjoy. Photos were taken and people were really enjoying themselves. It was roughtly about 12 pm then. We hit the dance floor with the DJ playing Techno, R n B, Hip Hop and Rock music for us to get jiggy with it. I've never seen most of them dance before and they did dance quite well. All the funny moves and weird dance steps came out of everyone and it was qute an amusing sight to see. Jeffrey was dancing his Elvis and Techno style, Kent was doing his Pulp Fiction dance, Sidik was chin chai dance and the rest were with their distinct style.

But the highlight of the night was the slow dance. I managed to get Cheryl sister, Daphne, to dance with me to the tune of Come What May,from the Moulin Rouge movie. It was a great slow dance, i had my arms on around her waist while she had hers on mine and both of our other hands clench together like some ballet dancer.(Cheryl if you are reading this pls dont kill me). haha. Been a while since i danced a slow dance with a girl and i had lost all my touch. I think i was going too fast to the beat of the song. More soon came, Sidik with Cheryl, and i think Chee Wee with another girl. The dance floor was soon crowded and people keep bumping into each other. Argh, that broke my smooth grace one the dance floor. haha. After hours of dancing, we all sat down at the back of the room. We played some games, loser had to drink or smoke. Meng Kiat was super drunk by then. He was like the smiling tiger who was about to puke any second. Kent and Yuliang was helping him to feel better with the hot towel and such. After countless photo taking, we managed to get the whole group to the sofa's near the lift. Again, countless photo's were taken, countless time Meng Kiat went to the gents, countless talk and countless changing of handphone numbers. Daphne managed to get her new camera to work and took photos with it. After around 1 hour there, we then moved on to our next destination, the lobby.

Again at the lobby, we took countless pictures, chats and just slacking there. By the time we got out of the hotel, it was around 2 am. Meng Kiat was still insane, he kept punching the walls, the transparent glass door and it also looks like he was talking to the Tiger statue at the enterance(OK,i made the last one up,but that would be cool). The first one to go off was Cheryl, Shaun and Daphne. They took the cab and went home as they lived at Tampines. The rest decided to go to Newton's 24 hour hawker centre to chill and eat till their stomach burst. At first, me, Chee Wee,Jeffrey and Hafiz decided not to go but in the end, on the walk towards the bus stop, we changed our minds. All of us took cabs there and soon, i grew a six pack in a few hours. You'll understand why soon.

At the hawker centre, there was about 13 of us sitting on two tables. Meng Kiat was sane now after eating some wantan noodles. Then, countless stories of our old classmates came out from each and everyone of them. Really fucking funny stories which no one can stop laughing at all. We talked about William, Vincent, Gary and so much more guys and girls which i think the list would go on and on forever. The topics we discussed were utterly insane, obnoxious at times and heart wrenchingly funny to the core of the bone. We had the joker, Chee Hui, with the master story teller, Kent, making us all nearly vomit blood. The funny thing was, we sat there for more than 5 hours and there were still more stories to tell. The sun rose and the first bus came and we were still laughing our hearts out. All things have to come to an end and slowly one by one, we parted. Some took cab, some took bus while the rest took the MRT.

What a day this was. I shan't forget this till the end of my time. Wonderful time and experience with my dearest friends.

Caught Van Helsing today with Jo and Kent at Jurong Point. What a waste of my $6.50. My butt hurt and the movie sucked big time. It was a boring super hero movie with nothing but special effects and bad acting. The only good thing that came out of it is Kate Beckinsale. She's was the main attraction of the movie. It was a lame excues to watch the movie. Should have caught Kill Bill Vol.2 instead. I loved the first Kill Bill movie. Quentin Tarantino is the best director around right now. His first movie, Pulp Fiction, was the one that caught my eye. The duo of legendary John Travolta and multi talented Samuel L Jackson was explosive. Anyone who missed it should be ashamed of themselves.

Been listening to a lot of new bands lately. Dashboard Confessional is a great band! Try the song A plain morning. You'll love it. Other bands ive been listening lately to are Somehthing Corporate, Further Seems Forever and Saves The Day. Didn't realise there was so many great bands out there waiting to be found.

FAITH. This 5 letters presents different meanings to different people. My faith lies in my religion of Islam. I have been questioned of my faith a lot of times from my friends. They mock me just because i missed some Friday prayers or some prayers in a day. That doesn't mean i dont believe in my religion. I may not be the best Islam follower but i truly believe in my religion. I go for my weekly Al-Quran classes and i pray everyday. Just because you don't see it happening doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Sometimes i just feel like punching them in their face with my own fist. But i refrain from stooping so low. I just keep quiet knowing that i am who i am, not what others think of who i am. All i can say is don't judge me without knowing me that well.

Nowadays, Islam is coming under so much scrutiny. They say it is a terrorist religion and such. Wait, wait, wait, have they even read the Al-Quran at all? Why are they babbling things which they have no idea what it is about and keep telling those lies? Islam doesn't teach people to kill and it doesn't allow it's follower to drink beer. If you think carefully, does a drink of beer really helps at all? All you get in the end is people getting drunk and then a fight begins, a drunk driver kills innocents on the road and you start puking, feeling the after effects the next day.

Some people say Islam is a very troublesome and time consuming religion to follow. If you think about it, we have 24 hours a day, and five prayers a day at max can reach to about 25 minutes. So if Allah gives you 1440 minutes a day and you spend only 0.02% of it praying to him, is that fair at all?

So don't pull me down just because of what you don't see. Let me leave you with some excerpt's of Prophet Muhammad last sermon and you see for yourself that we are no terrorist religion...

Prophet Muhammad said:

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O ALLAH, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

It suddenly dawn on me that it was the end of the road. After 3 long years of struggle and hard work, everything came to a stand still. Every event that happened in this 3 years was still fresh on my mind, feeling like it was just yesterday that i had enrolled on an unknown course which i had no idea what it was about. I wouldn't have made it through without my friends support. So from the bottom of my heart, i wish to to thank all these people who made it possible for me to enjoy the endless possibilities of fun and laughter.

You guys are the best. Couldnt imagine life in poly without you. All the best for the uncertain future ahead of all of us.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a lighter note, i had a particularly good day yesterday. Matthew called me in the middle of the night on thursday for a game of soccer on friday morning. His good old pal came back from Canada and really wanted to have a game. We played at the NUS street soccer court against this bunch of well built NUS students. We were at a disadvantage as we only had 5 players while they had 6 players. But as Matthew said it best, their hands are their legs, while their legs are their hands. And we beat them with a 20 plus goals while they only scored 2. They must be so embarassed as halfway through the second half, they decided not to play anymore. haha. After the game, the guys invited me to join them for some jazz performance at night but i declined as i had some plans for the night. But unfortunately, when i got home to take a rest before going out again, i had this terrible headache that totally stopped me from even stepping out of my room. Just my luck. At least i felt better now, thanks to the makers of panadol. Will be going out later then. Enjoy the weekends!
