been 2 wks since i last joined up civil defence, and it was a mixed reaction feeling. and now, im a recruit in Bravo Company, Platoon 5. the whole gang are great people to hang out with. there are many different kind of personalities all around. some doesnt know a single thing that they are doing, some are quite dumb, while others are kinda more well rounded.

the training was hard at first, but we got used to it after some time. 100 push ups a day doesnt seem so impossible anymore. discipline and rules are the norm there, even a scratch without permission can cause the whole platoon to drop and give 20 push ups.

lemme see, the food is better than you can find in hawker centres. you have chicken, mutton, fish, veges and side dishes. but after a while, everything seems so plain cos we've been eating the same variety 3 times a day, 5 days a week.

there were days when it was so fun and the whole platoon was enjoying themselves, and there were days when it was so tiring and tough that our whole body ache when we reached our bed. sometimes we do miss our families, and you really wish that you were at home, watching tv with a coffee in hand. but we've learnt to survive by ourselves, and will continue to do so.

to elaborate on more would certainly bore the hell out of you, so i decided to leave them out. gonna book in later at night. hope everyone's been having a great time.

cleaning up my room today, i came upon letters i had accumulated over the years stacked inside an old folder. one by one, i read through it with such intent and curiousity. its been years since i last read them, and i was suprised to find letters which i didnt even knew exist.

birthdays greetings from my sister 7 years back, from amir, azlin, sharizan, diana and more was uncovered slowly. it was heartwarming to see i had people around me who cared. life would be meaningless without them.

then, i read a letter from my ex. we used to send letters to each other almost every month. we'd write about everything and anything, and i cherished every letter she sent to me. i still remember the first letter she wrote to me, in the year 1997. we met through a trip in bangkok. and the last one from her was 2001. how time flies and life goes on. at last count, i think i had more than 10 letters altogether from her. id never exchange it for anything else in the world. writing a letter is more personal than just writing an email, and it conveys more meaning than paragraphs on a computer screen.

time past by so quickly without me noticing i had already 20 years of life. im going on to my next phase in life. experiencing the reality of life. and i bid you farewell...

started work at science centre on 4th septembeber as a crowd controller, a blessing in disguise to the frustration i had earlier on. wirna, thiru, jefferey and fatimah was assigned to team co-ordinator instead. i had the easier job as i was supposed to control the crowds and contestant, 70% of the time i was sitting down. just to clear people off from the playing field and stopping contestants from speaking with their teachers. team co-ordinator instead have to rush for time and will be running around 24/7.

the first four days was for the pri school kids, while another 3 days was for the sec school. the last day will be the finals. 8 days in total for us to work non-stop.

everyday, the dj will play songs 12 hour non stop. not bad, you will say, but he keeps playing hip hop/rap songs most of the time. plus the number of times they keep playing the same song over and over again is irritating, especially hoobastank-the reason song (cmon, ive already heard it countless times, but to hear it 5 times a day, 8 days a week is crazy).

on the first day, the crowd was great, lightening up the competition hall with their voices. cheers from east coast primary, clementi and 2 other team was deafening. can you believe that they made the most obscene amount of noise from 8.30 am till 6 pm without a moment of peace? i swore that i would go deaf if this goes on for the remaining 7 days. its like turning on the volume on your dolby 5.1 speakers and listening it 11 hours straight. the turnout for the primary school kids was awesome, they'll be shouting their lung out to support their team. the secondary school though, had few or little supporters at all, with the air pumped up by the music.

lemme tell you something, pri school kids are dumb. yes, really dumb. you give them one instruction and they'll nod their head. few seconds later, the words exits from their other ear and they'll be back to doing the one thing we told them not to. but the secondary school kids are a bit smarter, they know what can be or cant be done.

the pri kids are very easy to interact with, sometimes ill just start a conversation with them and it'll be fun. you get to know kids from more than 600 teams, each consisting around 5 students. and with that amount of student, youll see different personalities. cute kids, naughty kids, smelly kids, fat kids, smart kids, nerdy kids, noisy kids, irritating kids and playful kids.

the crowd control guys are great, with different people from different backgrounds. you got the bengs, the monk and the biker. all funny and at the same time, nice people to work with. then you got the team co-ordinators, the sp gang with whom ive bonded so much during the course of work. everytime they are free, they'll be around me chatting or just enjoying themselves. for example, we played bingo today. haha.

thiru and i has this short term for gals. its like this:
ib = indian babe
hb = hindi babe
mb = malay babe
cb = chinese babe
so everytime you hear us say that, you'll know what we are talking about. haha. we'll get their number thiru, ill bet on that. haha.

after work, i would sometimes follow thiru to have dinner with jeffrey or shafi. and we went for pool once that day, quite a fun outing.

yesterday, something funny happened. we were walking to the mrt when wirna noticed that she was carrying the wrong bag. haha. superbly funny. you should have seen her face. its like, she just carried it all the way from science centre without knowing that it wasnt her bag. how cool is that. and to top it off, the other gal also didnt realise that she was carrying the wrong bag! wahahaha. they met up and changed their respective bags soon after that.

today, thiru got ashanti number, while i got this "cookie gal" number. shes called that cos she went around giving free home made cookies. and it was damn delicious! haha. i dont know why, she just struck me with her first impression. cant describe how it felt.

okay, got to work tommorow, waking up early just aint my thing. wonder whats it like during ns though, got to be worst. tommorw will be my last day at work. kinda sad.

, an entry by me citing the lyrics from the hoobastank The Reason lyrics.

after july 2004, The Reason keeps playing over and over again on the radio! its fuckingly irritating and annoying. everytime i hear it ill switch off the radio. my god what is this world coming to.

_________________________________________________________________

stepford wives is the most boring and annoying show ive ever watched. it was so draggy that i just wanted to cry tears of frustration. the plot is simple and straightforward. the ending is so laughable. i should have just asked nurul to kill me there and then in my seat. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind was 1000000x way better. stepford wives just has big names but bad storyline. whats the use of budgeting a movie at $10 million when a $1 million movie is better at catching the audience heart and soul and something that they can relate to.

other than that, i got the job at science centre as a crowd control personnel. i have no idea what im gonna do but as long as i kick someones ass ill be glad. gonna be from 4 sep till 11 sep. then after that, 2 days of rest before jumping into civil defense camp and begin my ns life.

how fun is that.
