hey guys, wassup? been literally months since i updated.

life is like a merry go round, it turns non-stop and before you know it, you are still turning at the same point of time. thats what my life feels right now. the past few months many events unfolded. the most memorable one was my 7 day junior commander OBS course at ubin.

normally youll think that obs is fun and such, but this course was created specifically to cater us. we ran 2.4km in the morning and another 2.4km in the evening. in between, activities blew our mind physically and mentally apart. climbing "peak ascend", a 10 storey obstacle, was very tiring. it requires the team, a 4-person group, to work as a team, think as a team, breathe as a team. for mine, i had to climb with 3 fellow mates basically using a ladder. we had our problems but afer 2 hours of intense climb, we managed to reach the top with satisfaction and confidence edge to the back of our mind.

that was nothing compared to the kayaking we had to do. from ard 11am to 6 pm, we had to go round ubin as a whole group. can you imagine just kayaking for 7 hours non stop, shitting and peeing in the water, as we arent allowed to go on land till we finish the expedition? we had our fun throughout; scenes of people capsizing, shitting in the water and in a flash, the shit will be swimming towards your face and some event went as far as saying they saw a shark.

but our last few days was nothing compared to those. it was called operation "blackyak". we had to be on standby the whole day from night till morning, waiting for a call from the instructors for us to set out. due to that, all of us had to take turns to do guard duty till the phone rang. and when it did, all of us had to reach the hall in 15 mins with all of our stuff. as we set off in our kayak and our bags full of camping equipments plus our ration of food, our destination was supposed to be pulau sekudu. this small island is where we have to set up our own shelter and food. no one was around to supervise us. we built only small shelters due to the fact that we had to abandon the island with our kayak in 15 mins when we got a call for us to proceed to the next island. we had half cooked rice for dinner and a lil bit of canned food. it was sucky, but we had to do with it.

soon when night time came, the whole place was literally dark. there was no light other than our own torchlight. some built a small fire, while the rest was either having fun on top of the huge rock they climbed or getting some sleep on the sand or rocks. i myself had to move 3 times because the water rose to my feet while i was sleeping, then after that due to the heavy downpour and cold, cold wind. all we had was our ponchos covering our body thus sleeping on the sand was the only option. we all thought that they would activate us at 2am, but in the end, due to the really heavy downpour, we only set off the next morning. we woke up to a cloudy weather, and received a call. in 10 mins, we got up and running and kayak towards our next destination at a location in ubin. when we reached land, we then had to trek for more than ard 20km searching for checkpoints. so from morning till evening, we walked with our heavy backpacks with little rest and aching body. as we reached our final destination, we sat down and had a lil bath and food to eat. night time soon fell and we were back on our feets again, back to our camp. at last, we were going back to our dorm!

but it was not to be, the next day we had to run a 12km "commitment" run. it was a tiring run, but all of us managed to get to the finishing line. i did mine in ard 1hr and 20mins with a constant jog. we thought it was the last event we will have. then we were told that there was one last obstacle course to finish. climbing around 2 storeys high, we then have to jump and grab hold of a wooden plank on a rope. but before we jump, we had to shout out what we have learnt and what we wanted out of our life. mine was "to overcome every obstacles in life, through thick and thin with a smile on my face". that phrase is something i will live by for the rest of my life. alas, in a flash, 7 days of OBS was over. it was time to say goodbye to our instructors and the mosquitoes who likes to bite my frens but not me.
